I dont think much experience is needed to get a job, I've dealt with a few (young & old) who didnt know much.

Your best bet is to get somebody to put in a good word for you. That might get you an interview and the rest is up to you. The pay is good and as long as you like hanging out in the courthouse, the job seems pretty easy. I know a few good landmen around Cotulla & Pleasanton but I dont think they are hiring. I'll ask next time I talk to them, one of them is coming to the ranch next weekend.

That is very true. Its not what you know but who you know!!! I can thank my brothers for getting me in the oilfield. Started out as a roughneck for a few years and then got a job with a Directional Drilling Co. (best paying job I have ever had)

Thanks for proving my point. Let me get this straight. you have 45 people that never lie to anyone, anytime about anything? That is a lie right there.

I can't speak to what lies they may tell on their own time time, but I can assure you that we don't lie to landowners, Lessors or anyone else we deal with on behalf of our client(s). If anyone infringes on that policy, they'll be shown the door pretty quickly.

I appreciate your brazenness in calling me a liar... again. I'd be interested to know what you do for a living. I'm sure I could put together some scathing generalizations that just might make you realize how grandiose a statement you're making.

I do a lot of things for a living. People lie in every profession I have ever come in contact with. Your 45 may be more honest then most but saying none of them ever lie is over the top.

As is your incessant need to call us all liars.

Good luck to you in all your endeavors. With luck, perhaps you can steer clear of all of us snakes for the rest of your working days.

What is your deal dude? I have been a landman for six years and love it. I have made some really good friends in this business and have had tons of very positive experiences with landowners. I take offense to what you are saying. I bet people could probably say negative things about you in the "things" you do for a living. But give it up, I'm not "pond scum" at all. Just remember when you point your finger at someone, you have three pointing right back at you.

                          Thanks

I will be moving to Houston in June, any body on here a landman or know of a company that will give a newbie a chance?
Check landmen.net to see who is hiring right now. The only advice I can give you is to be ready to travel. You may get on with a Houston based company but you will most likely not be working in that area.

I do have a small background in real estate as well as very good computer skills and people skills. I'm not an annoying salesman personality but I have met very few people that I didn't get along with.

I don't want to sound like a jack*** but I have a pretty high IQ and am a very quick learner. If I could get my foot in the door I would be a loyal employee and work my way to the top.

I will definitely be living in houston but am willing to travel anywhere for work.
In the mean time try to get a job in one of the big title plants, It will help a lot.

My buddy just got back from New Mexico working. He had been there almost 2 years with only getting to come home in East Texas once a month to see his family.
