I put a few squirts of scent free oil on mine every time I fill the feeder. No issues.

Is there a kernel of korn betwixt the plate and the edge of the funnel? Or is it just too tight to return to the top?

I oiled it and it still stays down? It seems the spring is strong enough to over come the weight of the corn.

It may be possible that a smaller kernal of korn got jammed inside a link.

I had this happen to my first one.

I checked and could not see any corn stuck! It goes up with help.

I bought Spintech and never a problem.
looks like it may have to many moving parts and dust has affected it or maybe a spring is sprung.
                          good luck

Like "Smart" I too will be following this thread. I am in need of a spinner plate that will close tight against the bottom of my feeders funnel. I have a problem with bees, especially in the late fall and winter. I feed year round a 50/50 mix of R & R Golden Nuggets and Texas Stampede. The deer really seem the like the mix but, the bees obviously do too. They will swarm to my feeder and will empty it completely in a day or two, one nugget and kernel at a time. I'm not sure whether its the sweet smell of the berry flavored nuggets or the equally sweet smell of the roasted soybeans. Whichever it is, at $75 a 55gal. barrel fill, this has got to stop. Especially now the feed prices are rising. I have seen the Spintech feeder plate but, this is the first I've heard of the Eliminator plate. I don't mean to high-jack this thread but anyone who might have any experience with either of these two plates or know of another make or model, please respond in kind. I know with all the wisdom and personal experience out there among this membership, someone will be able to offer some sage advice. Thanks for your help. Ed
