Coolest and by far the hardest I've done was the Devil's River from state park down about 10 miles against a stiff and constant wind with current slower than the wind. Hard paddling the whole way. Beautiful and remote river though, so worth every sore muscle.

I love float trips. I have always wanted to do the three canyons at Big Bend. I saw this chick:

She paddled past our place on the Colorado River near San Saba. She paddled all the way to the coast. Interesting blog.

Try the Texas Water Safari - San Marcos to Seadrift, 260 miles. Prepare early & often as it's the first weekend in June. It's not exactly a leisurely trip but a hardcore adventure you'll remember for life.

The comal and the frio and stupidly floated the trinity in tubes took us about 8hrs to go from the hwy 90 bridge in liberty to a buddies land that meets the river.

The last big float trip was the Santa Elena Canyon section of the Grande in BBNP. Surprisingly my pops had done the same trip 30 years earlier under the same conditions as myself. We were both 30, both expecting kids (me), and were both laid off not two weeks after returning from the trips. My trip was two years ago after the big flood and debris was everywhere, the watermarks 60' up were kind of cool.

I guided for several years and had the pleasure of frequenting the Colorado (Bend to Matagorda), San Marcos, Blanco, Guadalupe, and Pedernales.

Two trips I plan to take are of course the Devils (maybe in combination with a tag drawing) and the section of the Blanco from Fischer to Wimberly(beautiful). I used the sneak out to the falls called the Narrows on the Blanco and have been camptivated ever since.

Have done the 61 mile float (canoe) that is the Pecos, twice. Can be brutal and never saw another person for days. Sometimes the wind at the end can be impossible. Good rapids and beautiful. You'd best be in good shape.

Have floated the Frio at least once every year of my life since I was 3 yrs old (and don't plan on missin one). The Frio trip is something I always start looking forward to as soon as we leave the current trip

I watched "Deliverance" last night. It was actually my first time to see the movie. That's 2 hours of my life I'll never get back.

[QUOTE=theboydoutdoors;3291038]How many have taken float trip's down Texas River's.

My first float trip was down the Brazos River starting behind Possum Kingdom Lake Dam , to the Boy Scout camp, then on down to Rochelles Camp near Weatherford.

We did the Brazos from PK down to Rochelles many times. Great little trip and we always had fun. Those were good times for sure.
