    Float Trips on Texas Rivers

How many have taken float trip's down Texas River's.

My first float trip was down the Brazos River starting behind Possum Kingdom Lake Dam , to the Boy Scout camp, then on down to Rochelles Camp near Weatherford. I think I was around 15 and a member of the Explorer Scout's. Which was way better than the Cub or Boy Scout's in my opinion since it was coed.

After I was more familiar with the river and a little older I took trips starting at the same place only ending up sometimes as far down River as Horseshoe Bend on the other side of Weatherford .

My dad would drop me off at PK . I had everything I would need to stay pretty much as long as I wanted. Mostly ate what fish I could catch (which was plenty) of course coated in corn meal salt and pepper. A skillet, and crisco shortening, I was set for the summer. There's plenty of springs along the river thru there . So I carried pre-sweetened cool-aid to drink . Sometimes I stayed a week , sometimes a month. Always had a ton of fun.
    Never had a problem.

Floated the frio and guadalupe, paddled the trinity from up above dayton down to the mouth near i-10. San jacinto from the dam down to i-10, and the sabine and neches rivers too. Got a whole bunch more I wanna float before I leave this world.

In all seriousness though, your trip from PK sounds like alot of fun.

Float the frio every year. Well, at least try to float it. You know the drill, float a while, drag the tube, float a while, drag the tube.

I do the guad all the time. Upper and lower. Those are only day trips though. My dream trip is the 47 miles down the devils river to amistad marina.

A week long trip would be a blast but a month by yourself is a little hard core for me. I bet as a kid with some buddies would be fun though. As long as there are no banjos.

Your trips as a kid sound similar to mine, only difference was I was on the San Jacinto River growing up... Spent a many a night along that river and had a ton of fun as a youngster on that river...

In high school we made a many a trip to the lower lupe.... These days we vacation on the Frio at least a week every year... Our deer lease is up on the North Fork of the Lupe and have spent a little time in there too...

Have done several stretches of the Llano. It's really beautiful with all the different colors of granite sticking up out of the river.
