i don't know about leprosy, but i had something similar happen to me. I killed my first deer when i was about 13. Well, as was common, i had the blood from that young buck smeared on my face. Sure enough, shortly thereafter, i caught "the rut". Had it ever since. I get all tempermental. My neck swells up. I don't usually pee down my leg, but i do spend a lot of time chasing. Yep, that's the only thing that i can figure caused it. It ain't bad though. I got my eye on this old doe cleaning the kitchen right now....the chase is on.
