    Too cool Mary.
To answer the "can you kill it" question, NO.....NOT IN TEXAS! There are quiet a few in West Texas now and more seem to be spreading. If one is causing havoc on your livestock (sheep) a govt. trapper will come in and try to trap it, but you cant "leagally" shoot a bear in Texas.

Very cool here in Texas. Congrats and a great job! They were at one time very prevalent in South Texas and Mexico. There was an article I think in the TPWD magazine several months ago. How they are repopulating from Mexico according to their surveys.

However, I got bad news for you and your feeders. We have a camp and 500 acres in the UP of Michigan and them bears will completely destroy feeders. Nothing short of hot wire it will protect. They can turn a 55 gal drum into a beer can.

Enjoy my photo from my stand this last year. She was coming with her cubs before and after I left. My father in-law puts out corn, apples, cabage, and potatoes. No wonder she was coming in. But I carry a 44 Mag with me at all times. More scared of the wolves really. They freak me out when they howl and I have to walk out in the dark. Never gut any of my kills near my stand.

        Thats great Mary!

LOL Cotton..... you know that is right. A bear doesn't bother/scare me, but if a snake was within 10 feet of me, I would have been screaming to the top of my lungs

                  Clint,
Were they also on the Lewis ranch just different pastures or just neighboring ranches?

All you have to do is say when. We are going to try and cut the alfalfa next week so how about in 2 weeks?
