    The McPherson Series Mathews Monster?

Any of you guys shot one of these...I've never been a Mathews fan, but I'm seriously interested in buying a Monster soon, I'm just not fluent in Mathews products, what's the difference between the newest Monster series and the 2009 models?

Sorry misread question, Only changes are brace height and few tweeks along the way.

Nothing has changed since 2009. There are 3 different models the 6.0 brace height, the XLR8 which is 5inch brace height and the monster 7.0. This is my favorite bow to date, very fast bows.

Gotcha...I couldn't tell a difference between the newest models and the '09 models...what's the going rate for a mint condition used Monster?

Whatever one is willing to pay. Condition probably makes the most difference.

I bought an XLR8 because I felt like with today's drop away rests the brace height isn't going to make that much difference in accuracy but might make some in speed, and I think I was right. I am still enjoying my bow quite a lot.

I feel like I'd like to buy another, maybe a Z7 or something, but if I do I will keep my XLR8. It's just fun.

How heavy of an arrow and how many FPS are you shooting?

if you're gonna buy a mint used condition Mattews, it will bring premium dollar as M bows hold their value well.

New Monster bows are priced from $750 - $850 depending on dealer. Used bows are priced from $600 - $700

IMO, (if buying a Mathews) you'd be better off buying a new bow as used bows have ZERO warranty.

Have you shot other bow models and Manufacturers besides Mathews ? Before dropping $1000 , I suggest you go shoot all bows to get the feel since no two bows feel the same.

I'm just doing research right now Cajun, I was listening to the radio on the way to work this morning and there is a place in Bellville that was talking about having some of the "new McPherson Series Monster that shoots a whooping 360 FPS", I know FPS isn't the end all be all, but I hadn't thought about owning a Monster before. Hoping to go shoot some after the season is over. I'm afraid if I go now I'll load up on something that shoots sweet and put on my card when I've got a perfectly good bow at home I could be using for nothing.

From my M5 ( XLR8) I get 296 fps, at 60Lb and 27 DL. total arrow weight is 400 grs. Love this bow, draw is vry nice. No problem at all with the 5 inch Brace. By the way a 60Lb XLR8 will max at 63 to 64 lbs.

i was told it is expensive to replace the strings and cables on the monster, but maybe it was the xlr8 i dont remember.

I have a Monster 6.0 70lbs/29" draw that shoots 295-300fps with Easton Axis arrows at450-460gr finished weight.

Also have a Monster XLR8 80lbs/29" that shoots 230fps with 1000gr Easton FMJ DG with 5gr/inch weight tubes. Bow is whisper quiet and hits HARD!

I shoot the regular 2009 Monster. With 510 grain arrows, I'm shooting 308 fps. If that's not fast, I don't kow what is. And for a dual cam, it's plenty quite.

Not at all. Any time you replace the string, its cheaper than a single cam (longer). Just put a Winners Choice on mine. Custom color for $45 installed (or was it 50? I forgot) at Cabelas.
