I was in a boot shop in Fort Worth this morning talking to the guy about doing some work on some snake boots for me and he said I should take a look at his boots he has for sale. He likes to buy old boots and bring them back to life. I found a pair of Lizard boots that he said an old Fort Worth Cowboy brought to him to be redone. These boots have a date of 1942 (which may or may not be how old they are) marked in them and have been completely overhauled with brand new soles. I thought it was a pretty sweet find for $30. Not to mention the stories these boots could tell.

The picture does not do these boots justice.

From ML Leddy's rawhide starts at 595 for a custom pair, base price. If you want you could always get into several thousand for some gator with inlayed tops.

I use to be the same way until I wore a pair. Most comfortable boot made.

Shark, even my Australian Shepard puppy could not ruin them, but she sure tried.

tbeak - I think you are thinking of James Leddy's in Abilene. I'm talking about ML Leddy's in San Angelo. Probably part of the same family, but I know ML is the one that has been around since the 1920's and makes boots for many big names all over.

I like the color on that bison, but the tops are a little too crazy for me. I'm looking at a rough out kangaroo top in a somewhat dark blue with some nice stitching.

I had a pair of stingrays made a few months ago. They are awesome and very durable. I do like my caiman tails but my stingrays imho are "sharper" looking and not as many people are wearing sting ray like they are caiman tail.

Dale, I'm loving those bison boots. I really like the grain in those but the tops are GAAAAAAAAAYYY.

If somebody is seeing the tops of your boots, you are doing it wrong.
