Shark is probably as durable as elephant. Ostrich isn't.

Boot Material.... What would u choose ?

These will be true, custom made, custom fit boots (Leddy). I have already been measured and have looked at so many different options on everything that my head is still spinning. It seems like choosing the material is the first thing to do and I can't even seem to get that part down.
I will be wearing these to work most days with my bluejeans. I work at a manufacturing plant, but in the office, so they will see plenty of dirt but not alot of abuse. I have always been hard on shoes and boots and definitely don't want something that will scuff up the first time I go kick a pipe out in the shop, but I plan to take care of them the best I can.

IMHO once the elephants get your feet broken in you will love them. Hard to damage and easy to clean. You can scratch ostrich just by looking at them hard.

For working in a manufacturing plant I'd go with elephant or shark. You will have to TRY to mess them up. I don't think it can be done. My sharks are steel toe wolverines and are at the shop for new soles now; still going strong. Stingray, if you want to get fancy. I've had all three for over ten years and besides soles they still look brand new.

I have a pair of black elephant dress boots that are over 20 years old. If you take care of them there is not another skin on the planet that will outlast them. This particular pair is on it's second set of soles but I wear them very little.
When I was roping back in the day I only wore elephant. I had boots that had 5-6 resole jobs before I had to throw them away.

I don't know about anyone selling off the shelf elephant boots, but this is a little more of a special situation, pretty much any hide that you can think of will be possible for this pair, I just want to choose a good mix of durable and good looking since this is not something i can afford to do very often.
Thanks for the input so far, keep the suggestions coming.

But I didn't think elephant hide boots were available any more? Shark would be another very good option. I had a pair of black shark skins that looked really nice.
