If it were done in the name of growing archery here in North Texas, then why infringe on protected areas? And if the manufacturer didn't care about smaller shops that have protected areas, then why did they not give a dealership to them, or at least let Ken's move with him? I am not denying that he is spending a lot of money on a facility, but it is not being done to grow anything other than his business. Scheduling shoots and leagues on top of other local clubs events gives people that have been loyal to these clubs and shop a very bad feeling that they are coming with the sole goal to drive all the others out. Kinda like losing a mom and pop hardware store when a Wal Mart moves in.

I asked one question, and got the answer. Someone else called me out for asking, so I am looking for a simple explaination from the guy doing the business, not a bunch of lackeys and fans. Simple. According to rumors, in the very small fairly close knit archery community of DFW, CCR was trying to lure Ken over to their shop, so they could bring the Mathews dealership. With no regards to protected territory that Smithfield has had fro some time. Apparently it did not work, because as stated above, the dealership is not coming over. Also I would question why CCR continues to schedule events on top of local club shoots that have been scheduled and published for quite some time such as the ASA State Championship at Cowtown Bowmen. It seems to me that if CCR was trying to assimilate to the existing archery groups that were already here, rather than overtake them at any cost, it would be easy to do, and would help archery in this region. But IN MY OPINION, which I know means very little, CCR is moving in with a "take no prisoners" mentality, and a lot of people who have been tin the archery game here for some time are offended by it.
but what do I know?! I have only been in it since 84 here in the metroplex......

Last I checked, this is an Equal Opportunity country. Those that are "offended" need to come up with a strategy to deal with competition and spend less time being "offended"!Last edited by Fishndude; 06-23-2010, 02:49 PM.

Ok, so under your logic, if Wendy's hires a manager away from McDonalds, that Wendy's manager can move over and take the McDonalds franchise with him???
Is the Matthews dealership not owned by Smithfield???
I think Ken is being hired because he is an archery rockstar.
As far as the conflicts, life is all about choices. There are only a limited number of weekend days available, so there will be conflicts and choices will have to be made. A dear friend of mine is having his childs 4th birthday party on Saturday the 26th because her birthday is the 24th. My sons birthday is the 22nd and we are having his party on the 26th because its the closest Saturday. Again, under your theory, are we stirring up the world of kids because we are having our party on the 26th???? Its all a big conspiracy and everyone is out to get you.

ok whatever. you win!! this will be the greatest thing ever with the best people in the whole wide world. sorry to call out the fanboys, and put any body on the spot. and K9 if you think your opinion matters any more than mine, then you are way too full of yourself. I am not promoting or relaying rumors. As stated before, I was asking for answers from the only person who can give them. And from his earlier post, this thread was a suitable format. guess that was wrong of me to assume that he would answer his critics here, since he hasnt any where else. good luck with it all. hope it all works out!

Easy guys! I did say that I "LOVE" CCR. I realize it is hard to plan around all of the weekend events, but when you have events that are local (Cowtown, ASA) that have been scheduled for a long time it seems a little "too close". Our sport needs places like this no doubt! Like Jimmy (Cuttheloop) said "It is the Pebble Beach of achery"!
