My question is the same as Osceloa's. Did he bring the Mathews dealership with him, and how does that affect Smithfield's dealership??
I will give you the easiest and most pertinent analogy I can give. Remember 5-10 years ago how many deer processors there were in the metroplex??? I guarantee you over half have gone out of business. Did Syracuse expand their customer base and their product lines and facilities to put those people out of business??? No. Is it their fault those companies went out of business??? No. Same rules are applying to the archery side of their business. They are spending money to expand their customer base and the end result is we get a WORLD CLASS archery facility in the DFW metro. Last I checked the US is still a free market economy and the bottom line is this.... If other bow shops or archery ranges in the DFW metro want to compete and stay in business, they are going to have to dump some money back into their business and evolve with the times. There are more than enough consumers in this area to support ANY number of bow shops/ranges.......question is, where will consumers choose to spend their hard earned dollars. Figure out what the consumers want, give it to them and you will be rewarded.
All the talk of rumors on here sounds a lot like a group of women sitting around gossiping. “Great minds discuss ideas; Average minds discuss events; Small minds discuss people.” -Eleanor Roosevelt
Kramer I understand what you are saying, but moving a person into another business's protected sales area, just for the sake of doing more business is a very bad business decision IMO. If it were done in the name of growing archery here in North Texas, then why infringe on protected areas? And if the manufacturer didn't care about smaller shops that have protected areas, then why did they not give a dealership to them, or at least let Ken's move with him? I am not denying that he is spending a lot of money on a facility, but it is not being done to grow anything other than his business. Scheduling shoots and leagues on top of other local clubs events gives people that have been loyal to these clubs and shop a very bad feeling that they are coming with the sole goal to drive all the others out. Kinda like losing a mom and pop hardware store when a Wal Mart moves in.
Give me Stan at Smithfield over the others any day, expertise combined with great service and a generally good dude. I will check out CCR for the facilities for sure though.
I can say that there was no intent to move somebody into another persons protected sales area. Joe knows Ken, likes Ken and wants Ken to work for him at CCR (PERIOD). Some seem to want to make something negative about this and I'm wondering what their motive really is. No one is required to go to CCR! Joe and his staff have worked hard and are rightfully very proud of a great facility and are only trying to make it even better with a professional bow shop and technician. If you already have a great tech you like...keep using them and help their business. If you don't have a tech you might want to try the folks at CCR.
??????Hum...kinda reminds me when Golfsmith came to town. My custom golf shop was done for in a matter of months....?????
Golfsmith = Franchise
CCR/Syracuse = non-franchise
An apples to apples comparison would be when Sportsman's warehouse opened up in Lewisville and caused hard times on the local gun shops like Larry's Shooting Supplies in Lewisville. Also could throw Cabelas and BPS in the mix!
Wallyworld store opens in a relatively small town and it makes it tough on the Mom and Pop shops!
Open a Low Depot and watch the local hardware stores and nursery's suffer.
