To the archery world that I'm involved in, it does look like CCR is trying to take out at least 1 club in particular. Seems like an awful lot of CCR shoots are on the same dates as Cowtown shoots. Right here on this site in the 3-D section, someone asked about Thursday night shoots at Cowtown. Before an answer could be given, CCR was advertising a Thursday night shoot. It's is hard to believe most of this is just accidental. I don't blame all of ya'll for defending something or someone you believe in, but we are just trying to defend the clubs and shops that have been around for years and years. But hey, they've got free food!
They have much more than free food, but there is one good thing they don't have. Sour grapes...

"Seems like an awful lot of CCR shoots are on the same dates as Cowtown shoots"

The only dates i can see that have been the same are:

      April 17th
      july 17th

and those dates are the member shoots that are held every 3rd Saturday of the month and have been that way for a while. I personally am planning on shooting the CCR member shoot on that saturday as a warm up for the state at Cowtown. There was a conflict with the State shoot on Sunday and after someone brought that to the attention of the powers that be,,I believe during a CCR Member shoot,,they moved the shoot to the following weekend with no fuss at all. I am not here to defend, but please post facts not frustration or anger. Cowtown is a awsome club and will be here for a lot longer than Ill be tossin arrows down range. Club members that are loyal to their club will shoot there club shoot no matter who is in conflict that weekend....its about having fun and meeting realy down to earth people. I can honestly say that i have never meet anyone at a shoot that I didnt like.

Now that being said, I highly doubt that there is a mass extermination plan in some dark room at CCR with the purpose of total annihilation of all local clubs and shops.....I could be wrong tho!

The Thursday night shoot was at the request of CCR members and if you cared to look at Cowtown's webs site they don't have a Thursday event. The only ones that seem to be attacking anyone are you and Glenn. This thread was about a news release on a new bow shop manager but is seems you and a few folks have another agenda...
My intent was not to attack anyone. Sorry if it sounded that way. But, at the tourneys, this seems to be the buzz. Even heard a guy from Okie land ask about it. CCR sounds great and I hope to come shoot there sometime. I'm just trying to help letting ya'll know that there are some people not seeing it your way and it is not just me and Glenn. I will bow out now.

Wow, I'm a bit surprised and a little disappointed at some of the responses. Honestly, I expected a little feedback about Ken coming over, based on previous discussions about customer relations issues, but I didn't expect this thread to derail because of the other issues.

Joe, Joey, Tracy and their staff have been creating a world class facility for bowhunters, including multiple ranges that have targets set up during the week for practice, and as mentioned, the construction of an indoor range. If you've ever been there, you'll understand that a pro-shop is a natural progression for the business.

As a business (not a club), I'd expect to see Joe and Tracy do everything they can to promote the business, and to bring people in to see, first-hand, what they've created. Becoming a sponsor on this site - including SEPARATE sponsorships for both CCR and Syracuses - is a nice start. Having gotten to know Joe and Tracy through several events (as well as TBH Happy Hours) and meat processing transactions, I know they put a HUGE emphasis on customer service, and trust they expect the same from all of their employees...including Ken. As mentioned, with Ken able to focus on the techincal side of the business (and not so much the financial or operations) , I suspect he'll be able to change his approach to dealing with people.

In order to accomplish their business objectives and provide value to their customers and members, I imagine that CCR will attempt to host as many shoots as possible. Obviously it will result in some unavoidable conflicts with other shoots and clubs. Of course, included in their target market will be quite a few members of local clubs, and as such, it'd simply be good business to work with those clubs, where possible, to avoid conflicts.

I'm looking forward to spending more time at CCR while I'm working at FW during the week!

                Agree.

Having been there this week and listening to what they hope to accomplish this is a WIN WIN situation as I see it for ARCHER'S. If more get into the sport because of the opportunities that they will be presenting EVERY bow shop and range in the area stands to benefit. I know many new guys to the sport feel intimidated at some shops and some events. The "shoot when you want" aspect of CCR will allow folks to get comfortable with 3-D and then they may decide to get more involved in the sport.

I equate this to golf. I may love my local course that I play the most but yearn for new challenges and courses to play in other areas. I think the same thing is true of 3-D ranges as well.

Why is everyone so worried about Smithfield??? What about All Star in Lewisville??

It is just like a car or motorcycle dealership, you will do business where you have the warm fuzzy feeling and where you feel the most comfortable. In this area I believe there will be enough to go around for everyone.

Good Luck to all the bow shops and especially to CCR..

Who is Ken? What is a Mathews?

Crap, I need to pay more attention around here.

Oh Tracy, am I "Pro Staff" #4 ? I should be, I stick a lot of critters!

I can't wait to check this place out, it sounds like an archery mecca. My only concern is it sounds too big to ever be profitable. I'm an avid indoor shooter and even at the state shoot there was hardly enough people to fill up fifty lanes. So I don't see being able to regularly fill up 56? It sounds awesome to have a place like that, and the people there sound top notch.Just think the owners will have to continue to be very generous for a long time before they see a profit from a place of that size. I wish them the best, as its great for our sport.

Joe has always been welcoming to my kiddos! They even have the Cabelas youth shoot out there. CCR seems to pull a lot of the "hunting" archers and not just the "target" guys. I believe this will grow the sport and should be good for all the other organizations around. I posted (on another thread) and I hope it did not get missunderstood, most of the other places to shoot are clubs and this is a business. I believe this will be good for the sport. Like Vortexan mentioned it is like golf.

Very impressed with the facility as a whole. The indoor range may qualify for the "Wonders of the World" ranking ...that place is huge....both stories. I'd hate to pay the AC bill on that thing.....First class all the way.

Also got to meet and talk with Ken Whitt for about 15-20 minutes with Fishndude...and came away with nothing but positive things to say. I don't have any prior experience with the man but what I took from our conversation was good.
