    How often do you shoot?

3-D and Paper X-shooter practice aside..........How often do you shoot you bow in the offseason? and how many per session?

    Just before season?

    During season?

Talked to a couple of fellas the past few months and it ranges anywhere from.....Just enough times one day before season to make sure he's still close and then never touchs it again until it's time to shoot an animal .........TO..... Every day time willing at least 30 shots a day.....

Curious as to what the norm is here. Being as I was getting back into the swing of things in January, I have pretty much shot everyday I could...at least 20 shots. My problem is I get home late and I usually have to end up shooting in the garage/shop only after dinner and the wifes chit-chat time (LOL) I can't shoot over 19 yards in my garage/shop. My backyard is 25 but weekends and some earlier days off are my only opportunities to get out there. I usually find myself "relaxing" and winding down about 9:30 or 10 by doing so.

Wonder how my HOA would react to me going into a vacant lot that opens up into a big field and shooting the 30-40-50 yards shots for practice?

What kind of practice are you talking about that doesn't include shooting 3Ds or paper targets?

      Sorry let me rephrase this........

It should read tournament participant practice aside ie ....3D or paper target tournaments.

Not nearly enough, I can tell you that for sure. I hurt my back some years back and pretty much couldn't shoot at all. I've had some injections and therapy and plan on shooting again. Looking for a new bow now and then it will be as much as I possibly can.

I'm like you though Smart.....get home to late most of the time and can't shoot at all unless I set a target up in the house......and that's not gonna happen. The bottom line is, that I just have to make myself do it when I come off graveyards.

I feel for you on the traffic issue. Nothing worse than having to sit in traffic!! If my job demanded that I sit in traffic for more than 10-15 minutes a day, I would have to find another job!! Just my opinion.

Through highschool and college, I literally shot between 60 and 120 arrows every week. These days I shoot about 12 arrows per month.

I try for about 50 shots a day.

I don't always succeed. 3 school age kids and a wife that thinks I have to shop for groceries with her.

I shoot what my shoulders allow. The past week or so with all the dampness,I'm lucky to get 5 shots in.Usually 15-20 shots per session.Sometimes I'll go out and shoot just one arrow.Daylight isn't a problem. That targets are in the garage and well lit.I can get up to 45 yards if I go across the street into the neighbors yard.

I shoot enough to stay proficient with both of my set ups. I will actualy take a day and run arrows through my hunting rig, just to make sure if I ever get that "Let's go hog hunting" call, I am ready. I sometimes think that one arrow per hour for 3 hours is enough practice. Meaning, you grab your bow and one arrow, shoot the best shot you possibly can, and let it rest. Repeat an hour or 30 minutes later. It is more about accuracy after being idle like in a hunting situation, than throwing hundreds of marginal shots down range. I feel for you on the traffic thing, and am glad I don't have to do that!!

                          Practice

30 to 60 shots at 3D targets a week in my backyard plus a few at the bag and a few thru the chrono. I also usually shoot one 30 target 3D shoot every weekend. My backyard range.

Try to shoot everyday. From there it just depends on the amount of time and energy I have.

Hope you don't miss that turkey Arrowsmith.....lol

Last year, I shot once a month with about 20 - 30 arrows each time I shot. This was pretty much what I did for the past 7 years since getting out of 3D. This year, I got back into 3D and shoot 2 - 3 times a week (two indoor leagues and one 3D tournament a weekend). I still don't have time to do much practicing, just warm up before the shoot and maybe shoot a few arrows after the leagues.
