OK, are these burgers FRIED on a flat fryer or are they cooked like a real burger and GRILLED??!! I personally like mine grilled and hear people rave about Whataburger. Now if they only could grill 'em.

I don't know if anyone will remember this but some of the Dairy Queens used to be called Brazziers (sp? and no, not bras!) and they actually had a charcoal grill and your hamburger was grilled. The last one I saw in action was in Clifton, TX and I had to stop and get one. Those were good burgers!

Here is Austin Crown & Anchor makes a good one and I will admit that TX Land & Cattle serves an Angus burger that is grilled over mequite on a great bun w/red onion, fresh lettuce, tomato, pickles, (of course add Jalapenos) all the sides and some tasty shoestring potatos. It's one of the better burgers around.

Cedar Door, Camino El Camino, P.Terry's, Hut's and Dirty's are some other good ones here in Austin.

Haven't had a Butcher Shop burger in fifteen years - love their buns!

I totally forgot about both those joints.

          Tookies in Seabrook is OK......

I'm actually pretty partial to my homemade smoked burgers. I make the patties from lean beaf with Tony Chachere's mixed in. I crank up the smoker really hot (around 400-500) and put the burgers in (no direct heat from the flame). I smoke them at around 400-500 until they are almost done and then I add some quality BBQ sauce (the brand depends on my mood) to one side for a few minutes, flip and repeat. Toast the buns on the gas grill and add whatever fixins' you like........MMMMMMMMM GOOOOOOOD!

...and believe it or not Crazy Jose's here in SETX. It is like a Casa Ole, but their burgers rock. Best I have had down in this part of the woods

Little joint at Six Mile on Toledo Bend. Biggest burgers I have ever slapped a lip on. It's on a 10" homemade bun!

Best burger I've had was in Colburn CO. at The Cattleman's Grill. Double meat with grilled new mexico green chilies, grilled red onions, and avocados. Man, it was good. Of course that was the day after spending 7 days eating nothing but MRE's and protein bars at 10,000 feet. Bowhuntermac decided not to order the burger, he regretted it while I ate mine right in front of him.
