As you can see in the past there used to be a lot of difference in grades that a dealer could order within the same model. That was stopped for the most part about 1990. I think dealers tended to order a grade or two higher, so they could call the chain store guns the "cheap" guns.

Same gun is cheaper . . . period. I bought a springfield xd .45 for hundreds of dollars less then CC guarantee its the exact same pistol. For that matter, ammo, gear, holsters, hunting stuff is all exponentially more expensive then carter country.
I'll be honest I bought a sako 7 mag from CC but thats because it wasn't something available at Academy so for more difficult to find stuff CC is the place to go. For mass production stuff I'd go with Academy.
