Gun store quality ,vs Academy quality , real or BS?

I am wanting to get me a rifle soon with my Christmas bonus. Ive looked at the weatherby vanguard at academy & carter country. Of coure one is cheaper. The CC people claim that their vanguard is made differently , that academy one is lower quality . Smells fishy to me.
I am more sold on getting the Rem. 700. but academy sells the ADL,, and CC sells ,sc?? forgot the letters.
I am thinking its a lifetime investment, and dont want to go wrong.

the CC guys of course say its a different quality gun.
I really need you experts info on this . I dont know much about rifles

and I apologize about this being a firearms post

Is this "quality " difference a little shady ,, or is it real??
    any info appreciated .

not to open a different can,, but Im getting a .270 over a 30-06. 30-06 is what Ive been borrowing,,, but most people are saying go for the 270 for Texas animals. Doubt I will ever be moose hunting

I am far from an expert, but I like my 270 a lot. And yes it was a buy from Academy.

Carters country is over priced for sure, a Remington 700 ADL or BDL is what it is no matter where you get it. Unless of course it has been worked and customized. Go to carters, find what you want and buy it somewhere else. Carters has a nice selection to browse through. Sounds cruddy but in this ecoomy every penny counts.

Remington. All Black. I bought the scope there also. They mounted it and bore sighted all in the same day.

The 700 comes in a ADL BDL and CDL. The ADL has no floor plate and a black synthetic stock, the CDl has a floor plate with a synthetic stock. The BDL is the nice wood stock with the floor plate. The Weatherby is a nice gun also not sure which one you are looking at but the one for 399 at Academy has been getting good reviews. The Rep from Weatherby told us that it has the same barrel as the Vanguard series so it’s going to be dang good on accuracy. Personally I would go with the 700 just my .02. .270 is all you are going to need in Texas.

the gun companys are in it for the money. they are not going to stop the production line so a gun thats going to CC can get more time spent on it. now if you buy a CDL or an ADL then yes they are telling you right, however a CDL at one place is the same as a CDL at another. I cant belive that a store would mislead someone like that

If you really are concerned, get the model number form Carters and the Academy. If they are the same, then they are twin sister guns. As far as what to gun, my uncle has a custom rifle company. We are talking 3.25 inch groups at 1000 yds (and he has the targets to prove it), type custom guns. The design he uses is based on the Remington 700 action.

I'm not sure what Carters you are shopping at, but if you are anywhere near Seabrook - Marburgers (across from Hooters - I like the baked fish sandwich myself ) is an option to check into.

When I bought my stainless .22mag bolt action several years back they had the best price around.

I stepped in the other day and looked over some rifles, mostly stainless, but the prices seemed fair enough.

The other remmy was probably a SPS. Both the SPS & ADL use the 700 action, the SPS is a newer "version" that comes with a new stock and "X-pro" trigger.
I'm not saying one is better than the other, just that they are a little different.

One thing I can say is that if you never plan on doing any trigger work, out of the box I Liked the X-pro trigger better (I have both).

When shopping, don't overlook other brands in that price range, the Savage and Marlin bolt guns have a strong following for good reason (as does Remington).

As far as the quality goes, I (we) used to hear that about the wally world rifles being seconds or built to lower tolerances. I doubt Academy orders enough guns to make a "cheaper" version time worthy. I'm not sure the Japanese would do it for them anyways

As far as caliber I'm a .270 fan I& have complete confidense in mine.
                          I also like my .308 & 7mm-08.
If kick is a concern for youth or a lady the .308 should kick a little less.
But my .270 isn't bad at all.

The ammo will be easy to find and cheaper for a .270 & .308 (over the 7mm-08).

Ask cc if their gun has been "worked" or "customized" in any way. If not, it's the same gun and their "spiel" is merely a ploy to overcome every day issues with having to compete with Academy.

I wouldn't buy anything from a merchant who flat out lied to me!
