After listening to the tape, I could hear the "clink" of the rage lightly tapping my tripod and I am fairly certain that dislodged the blades enough before the shot to cause a catastrophic failure.

The fact the pivot pin broke, and now they changed the design of the pivot pin, tells me they had a lot of problems with the pivot pin. This is the 2-blade rage btw, not the 3 blade. I can only guess at the blade hitting the tripod because in the video I heard a clink as I lifted my bow off the ground, could have been my arrow or whatever.

I just switched to Grizztricks. I have had mostly good success with the three blade rage but am tired of the hassles and worries about the blades. I killed a 9 this year quartering away with a great pass through top of the heart. NO blood for 20 yards and then just specks, found the deer piled up about 50 yards away. I know that's hard to complain about but had it been at night and I hadn’t heard the deer crash it could have been a bad time.
The next kill was a doe shot slightly back but still a definite kill shot, problem was only one blade opened! I had a specks for a blood trail and found the deer a long ways off after a very long search.
My third deer was a spike with the Grizztrick, double long a 18 yards and big nasty hole with lots of blood and no worries of blade failure.

Shot a doe this morning at 7 am at 17 yards with a 3 blade. she ran 35 yards and piled up. blood at first was just little spots but then lots of blood to follow. I did not find the arrow but she was in front of a cedar tree so the arrow could have deflected off one way or the other and we have lots of tall grass so it may be under all the grass. Perfect triangle pass thru hole. Was my only rage so switching to the Meatseeker/undertaker heads.

I shot two deer last year with the three blades recovered both deer within 100yds. My brother n law shot a 150lb hog with one this year, clean pass through, hog went 20 yds and took a dirt nap. And the broadhead still looks brand new.
Unfortunately just like fishing line with all broadheads there will be people that like them and people that don't. Most importantly if you are uncomfortable switch to one you trust there’s too many choices out there to sit in the stand and worry about it.
