    slick bow

I have been shooting my 74# recurve like a mad man getting ready to go to Africa. Once I get soaked down with sweat I can't hold on to the bow. It starts sliding out onto my thumb. I thought maybe I was just getting tired but this afternoon, I went in and grabbed my 84 and shot it with no problem.
    Any suggestions ??????
I thought about wiping the grip down with alcohol but I'm afraid it might damage the finish

maybe put one of the rubber or neoprene wraps or pads on it, it will change the way it feels some, but you will be able to hold on to it.

Wilson Ultra Grip - tennis racket over grip.

It's thin and doesn't change the feel of the bow.

          Buff,

The only thing I can suggest and have tried with some degree of success is to buy a can of Arrid Extra Dry-Non Scented antiperspirant... make sure to let it dry really well before grabbing your bow. Worse than sweat when it is not dry.

I think you should hire a pretty girl to keep you cool with wet, cool, towels between shots.

Or you could stand in side in the A/C and shoot out the back door or a window.

Leave it to Chunky to come up with the ultimate solution!

Check out 3 Rivers Archery. They have quite a few different bow grips. The Shur Grip might be the one you need.

Your archery shop for all bow and arrow traditional archery supplies, archery gear, and archery equipment. World’s best selection of traditional bows for sale.

You might try wearing a batters or golf glove on your left hand. This will work until the glove gets soaked with sweat but it might change the way the bow feels in your hand. I think Chunky has the best option(s).

Good luck in Africa. Just think, there are many unsuspecting animals living on the Savana right now, with no idea what is in store for them.

Go to the sporting goods store and they sell a roll up stick that is applied to your hand in baseball to help hold the bat, I'm not sure on the name but I used to use it when I shot alot of target 3D, helped alot to maintain my grip when my hand got sweaty.......I'll see if I can find the name.....

                    Edit.....

Pine Tar Stick - don't worry it goes on clear and If I remember correctly it's odorless.......I used to buy it at academy, but I'm sure just about any sporting goods store that sells baseball stuff will have it....

Here is a link I found as an example of what I am talking about....

I use the bow grip saddle from 3 rivers because of the same problem. It wicks the sweat and gives you a secure grip without totally covering up a pretty riser. Bhill

The tennis racket grip is a thin layer rubber tube that you can buy you wont tell the difference. However if it does not work for you i am with chunkys idea.

Put gold bond powder on your hands, liberally.

                            You are shooting too much.
Nobody wants to hear that but it's the truth.
                            QUALITY over quantity.

                            Good luck Buff!
