Want to brag on our friend for his first buck with a longbow. Taylor lives in Florida and he comes down to south Texas during the peak of deer season to guide, cook and be an all-round good help. Last week he said he wanted to learn how to shoot a traditional bow. I loaned him my 40# Sarrels bow and, turns out, he’s kind of a natural. After 3 days of practicing with it he asked me if he could go hunting. I told him if he could put 3 arrows in a row in the vitals of the 3D target at 15 yards he could go shoot a doe. He did so I let him and he shot a doe within 2 hours. The next day he was hunting for another doe and he texted me that this buck was coming in. I knew the buck and I told him he could shoot but only if he presented with a nice close shot. The buck came right in and he shot it at 14 yards, double lung! His buck scored 143 with about 4” broken off. I haven’t even killed a buck that big with my longbow. Lucky sucker! [emoji38]
Decided to go w/the "curve" for OK's final wknd.
No shots at deer but hey, I'm an opportunist!
100-ish # sow at 12 yds. 100 yd recovery. Great bloodtrail.
I'm on the board for '23 !
