Connected on this buck back on 11/11. Shot was 8 yards and he only ran 29. Then all heck broke loose when another mature buck proceeded to gore and roll my buck around for the next 5 minutes before I got his attention and called him in. Second buck walked right in to 10 yards, but came to my right side behind my tree so could never get a shot. Definitely a hunt I won't soon forget.
Got my first critter with the selfbow. Big ol hog. My uncle roughed out the bow before he died about 15 years ago or so. It sat on my dad's bow rack until a few months ago. I finished it out and it's one of the better selfbows I've got. I even shot the pig in a funnel my uncle used to hunt back in his days. Nice little full circle moment.
Shot this buck on Thursday evening 11/17.
10 yard shot and rolled him in his tracks.
Shot was forward of his shoulder and high, so I'm thinking I caught spine.
A quick follow up shot turned the lights out.
I'm really happy with this Cull. He's a good one to get out of the heard and from the looks of it on the trailcam, he had pushed some better deer out of the area. Life, Work, Young kids, and a health scare last year have kept me out of the blinds and unable to contribute to this thread. Getting a kill on my second sit of the year ain't bad and I'll take it.
