Just back from a great extended weekend at London Oaks Ranch.
This trip brought up a few “firsts”: first axis doe, first kills with a recurve and first time using carbon arrows.
My shot on the axis was low and Zeke saved the day by tracking her quite a long way after we gave her a few hours to die in peace.
The boar came in the following day and I was blessed with likely the best shot I ever took on a game animal: slightly quartering away, right in the crease behind the leg. He only went a hundred yards or so and Bisch tracked him easily and Zeke had no trouble to follow that trail.
He was a cranky old boar and I was grateful the arrow and broadhead performed flawlessly.
This was the kind of weekend good for the soul.
So very grateful for the friends who made it possible.
