As far as toes go you need to have enough room for circulation or you're going to have froze-toes no matter how good your boots might be. I did 18 months in Devils Lake ND as a superintendent at a surface sand mine and it was bone chilling cold up there. We were allowed to remain on sight and working until -25 so there were some days where it was just miserable. I wore Justin steel toed lace up boots that were waterproof and insulated and bought them a half size too big so that my feet would have some room to breath in there while covered in wool socks. My feet never once got cold.

If you are fortunate enough to have a blind, but no propane heater, a black, non nylon shell, sleeping bag is a great help. I've even used an old wool Army surplus blanket. Shed the boots and step in. Zip it up to the waist and it's the ticket.

Working in the water department during winter guarantees one thing. You will be wet and cold. However working through it was manageable for me. Sitting through it is much more difficult.

Yep, if I get too cold, I get up to go look for something to kill just so I can warm up. Works better for rifle hunting, but did get within 20 yards of an axis once with that strategy. If only it wasn't freaked out and running.

Normally wear some type of glove on left (bow) hand for camo purposes, anyway. (Plain leather when mild; lined leather when cold.) Also, use a shooting glove on right, which helps, plus keep hand in pocket for most part.
