When I was testing some different weight arrows I found some wire cable that fit pretty tight into my shaft and coated it with some epoxy and inserted into the front end of my arrows to add weight. Don't know that this is good advice, just an idea.

Marty the alaskan series arrows will have a heavier side to them put em in the bathtub and mark it with a sharpie just a simple dot or so. this is the side that will facing out when you put your nock on that way the heavier side will be towards your rest.

                Best of luck to you

Marty, I hope you figure out the setup that suits you but, more importantly, I hope you bring back some amazing video so we can all share in your experience as we have done so many times in the past. Best of luck on your hunt

Well drats.... The elephant shafts are too stiff. Even with a 200 grain insert and a 425 grain point. So I'm gonna go back to what I know will work. I have another dozen 350 and beman shafts coming. I will add a 100 grain insert, 425 grin head and start cutting down the internal shaft until I get it to bare shaft. Should work out to around 1100 grains.
The elephant arrow ended up at 1380 grains. I'm kinda glad it was too stiff. It hit about 10" low at 20 yards so even if it flew good I'm not sure I could ever hit anything with it.

10” low is still a heart shot on an elephant.

I like the FMJ dangerous game recommendation.

Sounds like you have a real fun hunt lined up! Wasn't Howard Hill the first White man to kill an elephant with a bow and arrow? I'm wondering what kind of arrow he used.

If you can't replicate Howard Hill's elephant arrows, what about adding some lead fishing weights inside the shaft? If there's a way to smelt the lead and shape it so that it can fit inside the shaft, maybe that might work?
