61 here and definitely a Baby Boomer.
I have worked continuously since I was 15 years old. That's over 45 years of employment with no break. I have never been on food stamps, disability, or unemployment.
I worked and paid my way through college while I earned my Bachelor's degree. It was not handed to me. I never got a student loan and I never received a penny from my parents (or anyone else).
I have zero debt, and haven't had any for the last twenty years (since I paid off my mortgage after 17 years).
I have always spent less than I earned, and saved and invested the difference. I retired earlier this year because I could. I am not drawing social security and won't be until 66. I am not on Medicare, and won't be until 65.
I abhor debt. Generalizing that all of our country's debt problems are the result of "Baby Boomers having everything handed to them" is just ignorant and offensive.
