Great looking stick Sam!!! Very cool pic with the arrows and that sweet arm guard. I'm going to have a knife on my arm guard this September, even if it means I duct tape one to it. LOL

The reason I have wanted a Hill for a while is I bought this old book about 18 years ago and this real cool guy had signed it..................

I got to shoot one last week.out of 17 hunters 2 had them. 2 shots low and left then as if Howard his self helped out. Two right in the goodie. I told the owner thank you and returned it knowing I was a bit novice for this literal BOW.

With that said if anyone has any HH longbows for sale let me know , I know you shouldent want more than a few dollars for one of these 2x4 bows , just send me a PM I have cash in hand.Only reason I am doing this is to save everyone from these evil bows ( 66" - 70" any weight up to 80# ) SAVE YOURSELF and sell me that MONSTER so you dont get hurt!!!!!!

Bob Sarrels makes a great version of an American Longbow...his "Yukon".... Super bows!!!.... but not really what I consider a "true" HH style longbow. Again, they are awesome and I own two of them. I would enthusiastically recommend getting Fred Anderson's book "The Traditional Way". There were quite a few shooters in Mr. Hill's time that shot similar bows as he did and variants (like the one Bob makes) with great success. Howard Hill was great at promoting archery and marketing himself. I find his stories inspiring and entertaining. "His" style of bow is one of my favorites for several reasons. I always say that a true archery buff owes it to themselves to play around with a HH style bow at least once. I've only owned Howard Hill Archery and John Schulz HH bows, and of course Bob's "Yukon". I think that you'll have fun with any of these. I've heard only great things about the Sunset Hills and David Miller (Schulz student) bows as well. Oh...you also should read Howard's "Hunting The Hard Way"!!! ....ooops! Got a little carried away with the HH thing LOL!!!

I sure hope they are not as addicting as the Bear TakeDowns , cause if they are I may have to get a second job. Just keeping a little spice in my shooting and I like the history and the tradition of them. The old bows are not as easy to shoot they are not as fast , you have to put more into it and I like that.I may get a few more to play with and leave it at that , if I had to get a second job that would cut into my hunting time and we cant have that.......................

I see the wisdom in your thinking Sam!! Just be careful!! LOL!!

That is a sweet looking HH that you have Sam! Was it made by HH Archery? The shelf looks different than the Big Five that I had Craig Ekin make me last year. Yours reminds me of one of Mr. Schulz's. No offense to the Ekins (they are great folks!!!) but I kind of like Mr. Schulz's bows a little better I think. Congrats on the new toy!!

My memory is terrible! I've also owned Ben Pearson take-down longbows that Howard Hill marketed for Ben Pearson Archery and featured in some of his short films. They were fun and a fairly inexpensive way to try out some archery history.

That is awesome that your copy of "Hunting The Hard Way" is signed by THE MAN himself!! Sweeett!!!!

                                NalaJr,

Hopefully, our conversing on HH bows has inspired you to try them out if you haven't already!

                                Sam,
I read some of the responses on TG regarding the make of your HH bow. That is really cool that yours was made by one of the Kramers. If you haven't read about them, they were a successful father and son team in regards to promoting HH style longbows and the shooting of them. Dan Bertalan wrote a fun chapter on the Kramers in his book "Traditional Bowyers Encyclopedia".
