I just got an email from Kustom King today advertising them. That's the first I'd seen of them.

They have been advertised in "Traditional Bowhunter" for a couple issues. Those and the Werewolf being sold by Eclipse, are good looking heads!

Many of the mech heads could be considered barbed

Thats the reason I heard for it being dropped.

The mechanical heads do not fit the newer versions of the barbed head, due to the fact that they fold up and become easy to remove, however the rage would close to be barbed. anyway thats enough of that talk on here

If I disremember right the reason the barbed heads were outlawed was that some folks were of the mind that the barbs would keep the arrowhead from backing out on a bad hit and the animal running around with an arrow sticking out of its side..

I looking on the net... it appears that some states think the 2 blade Rage is Ok and the 3 blade isn't..

I spent quite a bit of time last night, and again this morning trying to find a Texas regulation on barbed broadheads.
Seems they have abandoned any such regulation, but I would still like to hear it from them.

I don't remember which states they were, but there were a couple of states where nothing was listed about barbed heads in their regs, but when called about it they said the barbed heads were definitely illegal.
My question on that would be - if you don't have it listed, how the heck can you enforce such a law?

To be completely honest it's a cool looking BH, but I can't see that it will do anything at a BH squared off in the back won't do as far as killing something..

Since the arrow doesn't travel at super sonic speeds I don't think the swept wing design is there for any aerodynamic effects. It may effect sound of the BH traveling thru air at 180fps but other than that it is just probably some snake oil added to the design to market something new because it looks cool.

The swept wing breaks up the buffeting turbulence encountered as it approaches the speed of sound (Mach 1).

The whole reasoning behind the barbed head is this... When it enters it's target it as we all know stays in but, as the animal continues to run instead of it backing out it has a greater tendency to work itself inward doing more damage. Imagine rocking this thing back and forth and watch the trailing end barb move forward slightly then the opposite side- not coming back but moving ahead as it rocks.

Game warden call this morning...there is nothing in the state regulations about "barbed" points so he said there is no definition or regulations to enforce, and he did say stone points were legal to use.
