The top photo of the Sika deer from google has his markings dead on minus the lighter color legs and looks to have the same frame and size nose and all... The deer at the feeder has faint white spots along his back. I'm sending it to our ranch manager too... To see of he can identify it, he's been the manager there for 15-20 years and was a game warden for many years.

Just got off the phone with our local game warden, he seemed pretty interested about both pictures and said he'd go through his channels to identify him for us. He said he'd run it by the area biologist too. I just want to make sure of what he is before I ask the other lease members to let him be.

I also got a call last night from my other lease owner and my buck I shot and lost last weekend was up and looked fine, he said it looked like the broad head hit his shoulder and went down the leg instead of breaking through to the body cavity... So it's good news to know I get to spend the rest of the year trying to get back on him.... With all the crazy luck I went out this morning and bought a 5$ lotto ticket and won 100.00, pretty excited at the moment

I'm interested to learn why the Barasingha deer is protected in Texas when it's a non-native species. I understand they are rare in India, where they're originally from...but why are we protecting them here?

Really cool to see the bear. I'd like to see a nice population in the state. I have no desire to have them where I hunt though. Coons and pigs wreak enough havoc as it is...dont need bears too.

Talked to a breeder out of kerrville, and according to hit you have to have a breeders permit to hunt them, he also said it was a juvenile.... That's a big juvenile!

A month after setup kelli's feeder pen had the barbwire snapped in half and the motor bolts were torn out of the bottom of the steel drum... Camera was damaged also in the incident so we had no pictures of what went down. We assumed maybe a big goat had got in and hit the motor or something but it really seemed like a stretch even though it is a goat ranch... I think we might have found the culprit.... He's like a super coon.

                                Exactly!

Bears are one of those "careful what you wish for" critters.
