What is the fastest TD Recurve out there?

To answer the question I believe the Border Douglas with Hex limbs is the fastest. Most all bows are within 8-10 fps of each other, everything being equal. Your brain will adjust to a few fps difference. I would recommend looking at a Schafer or Tall Tines (just to name a couple).
What fps are you getting out of your set up?

Maybe you can find another Hatfield TD that you can buy as a spare. I have one with two sets of limbs that hasn't been shot in years. It may be an older model than what you have. Does yours use the ball bearings on the limbs?

Good question and also a couple of more bow suggestions I've never heard of.

I've only chrono'd my bow one time with one arrow using an antique chronograph that Tommy Shackelford had set up at Holliday Creek this year.

My one shot chrono'd at 189 fps. I've been told that chronographs vary greatly and you really need to average several shots over a period of time. I think my bow is definitely faster than that based on what I see coming out of other bows.

I'm thinking that may be what I end up doing.

No. It's a single bolt and hole with two more pins and holes per limb. No ball bearings.

Thanks for the info. I'd never heard of Belcher and looked at their site. Their grip does look doable.
Lots of bows will shoot that fast or faster with 350 grain arrow, 70# at 30 inches which is the IBO standard.

Just call and talk to Bob about it. Even if you don't go with one of his bows he'll be able to settle your thinking.

That's with a 500 grain arrow and huge drag inducing 5.5" shields.

Dusty, I woould not fret over it too much. You shoot quite well, so in the event the Hatfield gives it up, just find a bow that feels right in the hand and shoots smoothly. It may not shoot EXACTLY like the Hatfield, but you will probably be surprised how fast you make the change IF the bow draws and feels right in the hand.

If you are not absolutely determined to stay with a recurve, take a few shots with Bisch's Black Hills II(I'm sure Bisch would be more than happy to let you do that). I did, and that is the smoothest shooting bow I have shot in a long time.

I just sold a Black Widow recurve that was 47# at my draw length. It chronoed at 202 with 500+ grain wood arrows, but I could never get used to the grip. It was supposed to be BW's medium grip, but it was too high for me and I could not hit the side of a barn with it.

Thank you Wayne. I grabbed a BW TD once but didn't shoot it. I hated the grip too.

Also, I know my Hatfield shoots faster than some BW TD's I've shot against.

Dusty, Larry Hatfield is a moderator on "Tradtalk.com" If I were you, I would start a thread titled "Question for Larry Hatfield". He may be able to turn you on to some more limbs.

Wayne is maistaken just a bit. Bisch does not have a Black Hills II Mine is a Blueridage. And yes, it is smooth and I like it alot. It is not as fast as Dusty's though. Mine chorno'ed at 178fps at 50# with a just over 10gpp arrow.

                            Bisch

You might want to check out Black Swan bows. They are pretty fast as are Morrisons.
