I generally use 5" shield cut or parabolic. Sometimes I like fletching some up with 5.5" banana cut.

3-4" parabolics on all my arows (except flu-flus; they are a little bigger). I like AMG brand.

Parabolic is just a shape of feather. here is a pic with all the different feather cuts or shapes:

I use right helical but it really does not matter unless you are using single bevel broadheads. Then you need to match the feather helical to the broadhead bevel.

              4" Shield True Flight.
Had problems w/Gateway feathers tearing up.

4" Shield cuts - love trueflight the best.

I like 5" shield, but nothing wrong with parabolic. Sorry fellows I prefer Gateway over Trueflight. I find them to be more durable on alluminum. The spine is a little thicker on gateways, but maybe on woodies or carbons trueflight may be better.

4" parabolic on my woods and 5" shields on my carbons. Right helical on the shields and straight up on the woods.

I read somewhere that shield cut feathers are louder as they fly downrange - true? I like they way they look but do they "whoosh"?

I shoot 5" shield cuts, and yes they do make noise while flying. But im wierd cuz that is one of the things i like about them. lol. I love hearing the arrow zip towards the target.
