Ok, ordered a jig and some feathers from 3 Rivers last night so wish me luck. Maybe if this wind ever dies down I'll get to shooting again. Been quietly following the trad forum, just biding my time

LeanMachine, thats how I do mine as well, and I get zero fletching wear. If I shoot cock vane out the bottom "hen" gets worn pretty bad.

Most fletchers are set to fletch them this way already.
That's the way I orient my feathers.

Field points index feather out, broadheads index feather in. no real reason, just do, I shoot a little less spine than most people, so it's great which ever way I do.

Just glued on my first feather - ever. Nice to be able to do this on my desk while "working". Gonna take a long time to get all my arrows done but at least I'll have a couple I can try out tonight!

Just a quick update for anyone interested. I ordered the least expensive single AAE fletching jig and some fletch-tite platinum from 3 rivers. This process could not be easier. I do it at my desk when bored (listening to company internal conference calls) So far, the feathers are holding on very well and my arrows are flying great. I've done 10 arrows in my spare time and I'm doing one right now! Not sure how long the plastic prongs on this AAE jig will last but I'm being very careful with it.

So, for anyone wanting start doing their own, I can attest it is easy, simple and cheap.
