I'd like to be there but don't think I can swing two weekends in a row up north.

Would prefer that the Senior class be consistent with Cow Town, Chester and others by using at least 60 as the age. IMHO, 55 is still when a person is in their prime as a shooter, making that age a non-factor as an age related limiter. We use age limits (youth classes) to acknowledge that young people are not able to compete with the general population of shooters. We should do likewise with older folks. For many, once one gets to be in their mid 60s up, they no longer are in their prime and deserve the same consideration.
Failing this logic, I will still be there as you put on a great shoot with friendly people and excellent facilities.

              Gotta go take another pill,

              Charlie

                  Paul,

I remember you tried to make this shoot last year when it was postponed due to 11" of snow. I hope we finally do get to meet this year.

Only a person over 60 would think that way Charlie. I broke my back in 1997 and they didn't have a handicap class for me. I have physical therapy to do now...

                      Well Charlie,

This is my personal opinion only, so please take it only for what it's worth. Since TBoT is a statewide organization that sponsors up to 15 Traditional shoots a year (including by far the largest All-Trad shoot in the state), it only makes sense to me that Cowtown should be consistent with TBoT (rather than the other way around). That being said, Cowtown and Chester are certainly entitled to set their age limits wherever they want to. They are under no obligation to conform to anyone else's guidelines. I personally have no interest or desire to tell them how to run their shoots (with the exception of the distance for stinkin, tiny little steel armadillos).

The 55 year age limit for Senior class is a TBoT rule and not a Denton County rule. Denton County only provides the facilities and the set-up for the shoot. The local TBoT Representative runs the shoot and the shoot is run by TBoT rules.

Butch Gleghorn (West Texas TBoT Representative) added an additional Senior class on his own volition to the Abilene and the San Angelo TBoT shoots last year. He put Senior's as 55-61 and added a Super-Senior's class as 62+. On an interesting side-note, check the scores on the TBoT site here (http://tbot.org/shoot_results/past_shoot_results.html) for these two shoots last year to see which of these Senior's groups posted the better scores. Don't count the older old guys out too hastily. Of course this means that TBoT has to give out 3 additional buckles as awards and there may not be enough shooters in either class to justify those additional buckles. TBot only receives $5 per card. The host club receives the other $5. I can ask Todd if he wants to consider doing the same for the Denton TBoT.

As for under 60 "still being in their prime as a shooter" we'll just have to agree to disagree. My shoulder, feet, back, eyesight, and stamina are very far removed from "being in their prime" at 59 (and have been at least since 50... with eyesight deteriorating way before that).

Charlie, I do thank you for your kind comments re: the DCA people and shoot.

Ps: I posted the above yesterday, but it was lost in the server crash. I was able to copy and paste it from an email to Todd Smith asking him if he wanted to duplicate Butch's two-Senior-class-format at the DCA TBoT next week. I haven't heard back from Todd yet, but will probably see him at the Collin County shoot tomorrow and will ask him then.

We'll see and I'll let you know here what he decides.

Dead on the side of the road? In a bar ditch? A blind shot into a dark hole?

The last one sounds more likely for some target-setting sadists I know Todd.

I have a correction on the DCA TBoT. There will be 30 targets and not 50. There will be a lot of distance between the targets as the course stretches over a large part of the range that most of you have never seen before.

Be prepared for a different course than you have seen before at DCA. Bring plenty of arrows too.

Charlie, I did talk to Todd Smith and Bud Murphy today re: having two Senior's groups. Their initial response was negative. It takes 5 paying cards per category just to break even on the buckles. They MIGHT POSSIBLY bring it up for a vote to TBoT members who are there, early at the shoot on Saturday but don't make book on it.

Dusty -- Yes, at the time we lived in Houston and just happened to be in town. This year will be a little easier since we moved to Fort Worth over the Summer. Looks like the weather is going to be great this year. Looking forward to meeting you.
