The other thing is that black powder revolvers or single shot pistols are not serious hunting tools. I’m not saying you couldn’t kill a deer with one but everything would have to be close and perfect. They were made for self defense. (Although I’m quite sure Josey Wales could fan ‘em down)

I used to have a .54 caliber Hawken pistol that I would not have hesitated to shoot any deer at a reasonable pistol distance. It was basically a hand canon.

I think the Traditions Nitrofire muzzleloader will fall into the not legal. It loads the powder into the breech with a plastic holder.
