    Vanguard ammo

I have a 7mm mag Weatherby Vanguard. I have tried 3 different types of ammo and can’t get very good with any of it. I would like to know what you are shooting out of your Vanguard 7mag that has any consistency to it. Below is the best group it shot at 100yds off a bench rest. I have tried Hornady Superformance 154gr SST (group below) Hornady Outfitter 150gr and Federal Fusion 150gr. Do I just need to go heavier? The twist is 1 and 9.5".

Might just have to keep trying until you find the one it likes. Even the same brand, and model rifles can shoot the same ammo differently.

If a sporter barrel, might need to wait a few minutes between shots to shoot next round.

Heavier would be the first thing I’d try, that’s kind of a low twist for lighter bullets but that’s just my experiences.

Give some decent 168’s a shot and see if that helps.

Thats what I have been doing, but even the Fusions where $45 per box. The 7mag ammo is not cheap.

It is a sporter barrel. I was letting it cool between shots.

I have been looking for them. I have not seen them anywhere though.

The problem with ammoseek to me is I have never heard of most of the places on there. And have heard of a lot of scams.

Great ammo! I have started shooting it in all my various calibers. I have even ordered it straight from Norma.

I think I looked and theirs where 150gr as well. I just ordered some Federal Premium Berger Hybrid Hunter 168gr so we will see if it works.

I was going to say this. If the barrel is a slow twist, try a lighter bullet. My .270 will same hole most 130gr founds, but won't pattern ANY 150 gr options. See if you can find some 140gr. rounds to try. Also see if any of your hunting buddies/friends/neighbors will let you buy 5-6 rounds off them in different configurations.
