For those that have 28 Nosler or 300WM, what powder are you using?
    H1000 or Retumbo

Want to say a couple buddies use H4350. These are all 300s

My 7 mag I use Retumbo in as well.

If you go 28 Nosler, lay in a healthy supply of brass.

Johnny is who I’d use as well.

Keep in mind the 9 month wait folks are talking about many times has nothing to do with the smith and everything to do with supply of parts. If your not picky on some long lead items and willing to use whatever you can get quickly it’s fine but if your picky lead times can be a pain. I just received my AG stock after waiting 9 months. If I was willing to pick something else or even same stock but long or short action it would have been much MUCH less wait but I was set on what I wanted. Now that we have all my parts my rifle will be finished in less than two weeks and that includes custom paint.

Correct. Or a smith with a deep back log.

It helps knowing all the places that keep different things in stock or getting in on their orders.

So I decided that I am going with a 28 Nosler. Was able to get 100 pieces of ADG brass and some Berger 195's. Here is the powder that I have: Retumbo, H100, H4350 and 565. I am looking for some 215M primers

I am leaning towards a 22" barrel since this will be ran suppressed. Thoughts on this barrel length?

I love the 22 inch barrel. For so many years we all thought you had to have 26 inches in a large magnum. It does maximize velocity but everything is a compromise.

I'm contemplating a 22 inch 30 nosler with a brake as it's just so much easier when loaded in a backpack.

Imo-you dont need blistering MV, once you get those big bergers going they're like a freight train, hard to stop.

Here's my 21 inch braked 7 saum weighing 8 on the nose with an NX8. I cracked off a 640 shot 2 weeks ago loaded with 180 hybrids.Click image for larger version

Wouldn’t go shorter than 24”. Heck I’d just run a 26”. You’ve got a hot rod. Don’t put all terrains on it.

I bought a 6.5 PRC from Radar built by Johnny it’s a tack driver with factory loads can’t wait to find a load for it. In the process of load development now. Love the gun I will definitely have him build or rebarrel my next one.

I’d rather have a heavy 7mm any day… but if you don’t handloads I’d go with the 300 unless your willing to spend big money on custom loaded ammo.

A shorter barrel 28 Nosler is going to be hell on your suppressor. I would keep it at 26" or go to something less overbore than a 28N like a 7PRC.

This is a valid and often overlooked concern.

7 SAUM is a great option to shoot suppressed. 2,850-2,950 fps in a 20-22" barrel with 160-180gr bullets. Will do just about anything you'd want and do it with less recoil and powder than the 28 nosler
