Have one on my 22mag. I know far cry from a 300 so all i can do is vouch for the clarity and functions. And for what it is i would buy another. Really clear scope and the magnification and adjustment knows are better than some of the 600-1000$ vortexs ive had.

Hawke and Bushnell make some really nice mid range scopes.

OP, PM ArrowSmith on here and see what price he can get you on a Diamondback. My wife football-spiked her's on a boulder when she slipped crossing a frozen creek with me in Colorado and it didn't lose zero so I don't think recoil will bother it lol.

Definitely don't go budget on scope for a bigger rifle. Leupold would be the minimum I would go. I've got a couple VX3 and they do great

How old is that particular scope?

I think we bought that for her somewhere around 2018 or so probably. I did end up sending it back for warranty a few months later though, it had kind of a haze looking into the sun so I thought maybe something was wrong with it. They said the rings were overtorqued and sent us a new one. Next time we went to that range my Leupold had the same haze, that range just has a terrible evening lineup with the sun I guess.

Were the rings over torqued on the Leupy also?

Whatever you paid for the rifle, pay that amount for the scope.
I own 300wm and have had a Burris 3-9x40 and a Leupold 4.5-14x40 (current) on it.

I used the same methods on both so perhaps. I put loctite on and torque to 18 inch lbs but the loctite may lubricate it and cause it to overtighten. I'm still using that Leupold though, only problem I've ever had is that specific range as the sun is going down. Might just need to clean my lenses lol

For a 300wm I would spend a little more than $150 on a scope.. the cheap vortex’s I’ve looked through had absolutely horrible eye relief and I think it would be easy to end up getting your eyebrow split open shooting 300wm…
For a little bit more you can get a Leupold freedom and for the price I’ve been impressed
