300 Win Mag Budget Scope Recommendation

I picked up a TC Compass here off the greenscreen last week and looking for a budget scope.

I found this one for $144

    Vortex Copperhead 4-12x44 BDC Riflescope

How will it handle the recoil?

Didn’t have any issues with the crossfire for what it is. Good news, if it doesn’t handle the recoil, they will warranty it

The “ if” is the horrible thing! Op Save a few more pennies and get more scope!

My wife's Nikon on a 300 wm had the reticle go bad AFTER sighting it in. She still hit the buck, it died, but the bullet just barely hit the breast bone, instead of the neck. I still swear it died of heart attack because it dropped right there. Anyway, I use a Leopold on my 300 wm. 35 years, not one issue

Lots of cheap scopes will handle recoil. What is most often given up in cheaper scopes is optical quality. And sometimes eye relief, which is important. And of course, the quality control may not be there on budget scopes, you have a better chance of simply getting a bad one.

Vortex is horrible in low light.....and that's very important in the kind of hunting I do. I'd pass on a Vortex. Haven't shopped in awhile, but for the warranty, and what would hold up to recoil, I would always look at Leupold, Nikon, and then maybe Bushnell for a budget scope and the warranty. I know all these manufactures have changed recently.... but you may be able to find to new old stock somewhere out there.

The one Vortex I had was TERRIBLE.

What about the Sig Sauer whiskey3 4-12x50 with the BDC-1 quadplex reticle?

I have had really good results with the Redfield line at Academy. I have 3 of them now, with no issues. I have a 4-12x40 on a 7mm Rem Mag. Its not a 300WM, but it does have some recoil for a comparison on holding up. For the $$, they are tough to beat.

I have a crossfire and diamondback both are good scopes for their price.
They are not a thousand dollar scope and should not be expected to be.
It will be hard to clearly see bucks antlers in the first/last few minutes of your hunt. You can always have a good quality bino with you for that!.

In my short time on this earth I have come to the conclusion that 300 Win Mag and budget scope should never be uttered in the same sentence.

The Diamondback is the lowest vortex option I would look at.

Leupold VX Freedom is a solid budget line too.

Nikon doesn’t make rifle scopes anymore.

My scopes are a mixture of Vortex, Leupold and Nikon.

I have the gold ring on most every rifle I own with the exception of a few .22 and .17. The Freedom line or as mentioned above Redfield could be good budget options. I have a Freedom on my 444 Marlin and no issues so far and it is a hammer.

Yes sir. I wanted to get some feedback on the Sig scope. I am not well versed on all the many scopes. From what I read it looks like a good scope with a lifetime warranty.
