    Suppressor Gas in the face

Is anyone having issues with burned powder/gas in the face shooting with a suppressor on a .223/556 rifle?

Also, the person is a lefty...

Regardless of being a lefty, is there a remedy for eliminating/reducing the burned powder/gas coming back when shooting suppressed?

Contrary to popular myth, most of the gas comes from the ejection port, not the charging handle area. That's why it's worse for lefties. You can get a piston upper, get an adjustable gas block, or get a suppressor like an OSS that has less blowback.

      AR style rifle?

Is it coming from the charging Handle? If so you can get a gas buster charging handle

There's a couple of other companies that make a similar style. Youtube aslo has some videos on how you can use RTV to make something.

Maybe try an adjustable gas block to limit the gas coming back. If. You go that route you might need to play with different springs and buffer weights to tune it

not sure where it's coming from. Only shot a few times and noticed it... I'm guessing it's coming from the ejection port since it's right there in front of the open right eye...

Like said above Adj gas block. I have a 30 cal can so never really had problems with it. As they allow more gas to escape out the front. But a good Adj gas block is the only way to adjust and mitigate this.

Adjustable gas block will help but unfortunately it’s a gas impingement gun. Part of how the gun works and the suppressor just adds more gas backwards. Need a piston upper to really reduce it

This will help a lot on controlling the gas coming back.

it has an adjustable GB "Odin" I also need to get a new buffer to help it lock after the last shot and then try again... may look into the Piston upper as well...

Have you turned it down as low as it will go and still lock back? Mine is only a 1/4 turn out to were it will lock back. May give it an adjustment to see if you can turn it down.

Can adjust it two ways. Go all the way until it fails with the can off add a little gas and your good with or without can. Or tune completely with can but you probably won’t function without it.

Also lighter buffer can increase jamming issues if you go to light to save on gas.

Yes sir, I plan on starting at all the way closed and work my way until I get a good 3:00 to 4:30 ejection. I'm going with a H3 buffer.

potentially an adjustable gas block or convert it to piston. Adams Arms makes conversion kits.

I'm a big piston fan and Adams Arms has won me over as a customer should you want to go that route.

so, explain the piston system to me please! I know almost nothing about it and what parts do I need to swap? just the upper receiver?

to put it super basic in a DI setup the gas is directed mostly back into the receiver. With a piston system those gases are routed into the piston rod which then drives the action back. Overall they are usually cleaner and allows me to run my run very dry which is what i prefer to do.
