Certainly not much of a difference in most situations but everything makes a difference at long ranges. I’m wondering how much cold welding affects factory ammunition that may be a year or two old.
That is another great point. I’ve seen it start in a few weeks before. I think it depends on several factors, humidity being a big one. It seems like most factory bullets and brass are treated with something, a light wax maybe? They don’t seem to be as prone to cold weld as hand loads. We do a couple things to minimize it with our loads. I don’t tumble with SS media unless I’m cleaning up fired brass to neck turn. I want a small amount of carbon left in the necks to help prevent cold weld. Also, we will leave the dry lube from expanding necks in place when seating bullets on some rounds. We usually test that one before deciding, as I’ve seen it go both ways on the ES numbers.

Robert, which annealing machine would recommend for a sub $500 budget? I was looking at the annealeez and like the price point but wasn't sure if there was something better for a little bit more $$$?
