I regularly switch between a tripod with hog saddle and a bipod. Still hunting for hogs, give me the tall bipod. Calling predators at night, I like to lock the rifle in the hog saddle.
Three pieces of cured river cane tied together stretchable cord. Adjustable, lightweight tough and not expensive. Works great! Doubles as a walking stick.
I use a bipod for both sitting for squirrels, and tree/elevated stands for hogs. One thing to note---I am not a long-range shooter--probably 100 yds max for me. At night with the thermal, and favorable winds, I can sneak right on up to the hogs.
Well, I went the other direction on budget. Got the design idea from Glen.
Tripod - 5 bucks at goodwill. re-purposed 6x9 cutting board & some rattle can paint...
Worked great for my boys for many years.
Anybody use knock-off brands or camera tri-pods? I'm looking for 1 but can't justify $100-200 for a tripod. I saw some that look like decent units on ebay for $40-60. We'll solely use it for sitting in a pop-up. I don't care how heavy or camouflaged it is.
