If you properly clear your clothes nothing should catch. But in all honesty when I do catch something it’s not my optic.

Wouldn’t a laser be better. Once sighted in you can pretty much shoot without “ sighting “ down the barrel at close range. Sweat, dust all that don’t effect them. They are not in your sight picture should it fail, or you choose not to use it. You can get with or without flash light. I know some won’t fit holsters but they fit in the ones I use. I know I like mine and haven’t had any issues. I couldn’t imagine a red dot on my ccw, but never tried one on any of them either.

The rds haters are the same type of people that refused to get rid of their revolvers and 1911’s 25 years ago because “pLasTiC gUnS arEn’T reLiaBle.”

Like it or not, Red dots are the future of handguns. I’d go as far as saying that in 10 years or so, there will be more handguns with RDS than without.

Lasers are a horrible way of sighting unless you’re using them for NV capabilities.

I carry a Trijicon RMR oh my duty pistol. I do not use it for speed.

I use it because my eyesight is getting poor (use cheaters but not walking around).

I could care less about the dot at maybe 15 yards and in and just look for my front sight. At longer ranges and in low light (where I can’t usually see my front sight) it helps quite a bit to have the dot.

It takes a lot of practice and because of that I do not recommend it to officers that I work with. Most simply will not practice enough. I not only practice shooting but I also practice a lot dry firing from the holster with the target in various positions and with both hands. I learned to forget about the dot and just look for the front sight like always. The dot will just appear if you look at your iron sights.

It is nothing like shooting a red dot on a rifle. A raffle is normally mounted to the same place on your arm and with a cheek weld. That lines the stats are pretty close to begin with. That is nothing like having a pistol at arms length waving around. I shoot my rifle much quicker with a red dot. At close range it is extremely difficult with a handgun and in most cases simpynot needed.

For me, long range and in low light, the red dot helps.

                    For others????

I think I’d rather just have a laser gun.
