    Thanks for the suggestions

Grip and pull looks like a less expensive option if you are doing multiple calibers

Guessing you need different internals for the collet puller

Another vote for grip and pull.

If you're careful, you'll hardly see a mark on the bullet.

I have both the RCBS and Hornady bullet pullers. IMO the RCBS is far better of the two. With a metal lathe the RCBS collets are pretty easy to make if you encounter a new size.

I use an RCBS collet bullet puller. It is fast and very easy to use. I have the kinetic hammer style RCBS puller but will only use it if I have one or two bullets to pull.

If anyone wants my RCBS puller and will pay shipping, it's yours.
I bought it first because I liked the look of it but once it grabs a bullet it won't let go without a bunch of effort and it's a huge PITA so it just sits on my bench.

Are you referring to the collet style of bullet puller? If so, I don’t know what could go wrong with the bullet puller? Could it be a sprung collet?

when I pull a bullet it stays jammed in the collet and to get it out I have to get a hammer and smack the top of the puller. I've tried lubricating the collet with graphite then with oil-- no workie.
I bought a Hornady and it works beautifully every time.

So once you have pulled a bullet and unscrewed the collet, the bullet stays in the collet? What happens when you keep unscrewing the collet until it drops out of the puller body? Does the bullet remain hung up in the freed collet? If so, this sounds like a collet issue or the wrong size collet. Have you tried a different collet?

another vote for RCBS bullet puller(collet). Had mine since I started reloading.

Tips: you can get different size collets, depending on the caliber you need to pull. Keep in mind, each collet WILL pull a small variety of calibers, not just one.

I do not crimp my rifle loads so pulling my bullets are never difficult. Just don't clamp down on the collet too much or you will scar up your bullets, if you intend to use them again.

And obviously, in a press, lever in the CORRECT direction to PULL the bullet. You're in the habit of levering down on the handle when sizing or whatever and if you do that with the puller, you'll crush everything. Yep, I've done it a couple times.

I put shell in shell in shell holder.Run it up until bullet sticks out of surface die normally seats on.I then grab bullet with Lineman pliers( wire cutting area) resting on die surface
90deg.Run Ram down and pull bullet...Ruins bullet BUT its out easy....Vise grips work OK if ya got right size

                            clearer than mud I hope

                              The collets don’t have threads.

If you have a RCBS collet style bullet puller, the collets have threads. The threads allow you to pull the collet up into the body by the handle to tighten the collet onto the bullet. Unscrewing the handle loosens the collet’s grip on the bullet. Perhaps you are referring to an inertia style of bullet puller?
