    Suppressor POI issue

Issue is with 700 SPS Tactical 16.5” .308

The suppressor is Dead Air but don’t recall the model.

I can get it zeroed at 100 yards without suppressor with no issues. After attaching the supp the POI shift to 24” high. There are no baffle strikes and the suppressor seems to be mounted to the muzzle device securely and flush.

    What are thoughts. Thank you

How did you mount the muzzle device? Crush washer?

A shift in the POI is normal suppressed vs. non-suppressed but 24" seems outside the ordinary. The last time I checked I was 3"-4" high.

I’m checking it out for Gator either today or tomorrow. It’s a Sandman S.

Wait is it your rifle or Gators? He text me last night, and I was under the impression it was his.

You shouldn't see more than a 2-3" shift with that short and stiff of a barrel. Sounds like your getting a baffle wipe which is much harder to detect that a full out strike. Look extremely close at the suppressor cap for any discoloration. If you don't see anything you might could try some fingernail polish on the cap and see what it looks like after one shot.

I ask this because if the groups opened up a bunch it probably is skimming something in the can. I had one doing that and when I opened it up all the baffles looked fine, but there were copper jacket shavings in it.

The bullet is contacting your can.

                    X2??????

If you did the threading yourself the POS is understandable lol.

But have never heard of one shifting that much without contact the can. Would be careful.

                      Check for baffle strikes.

Are the holes round or have some oval distortion?

If you are using a QA take it off and direct thread and see if POI changes.

does the gun group the same with & without?? I agree about strikes & that usually makes for horrible groups.
