    Ruger No. 1 Questions

How often does Ruger release new models for the No. 1? Would like to get one here in the near future but they don't offer a caliber that tickles my fancy right now. For those that have one, whats your favorite caliber and why?

I have one in 25-06 that is an absolute tack driver...only rifle I own in that caliber, so I love it. Other is in 7x57...I grew up hunting with my grandpa who always shot a 7x57. Bought this one in his memory, so it holds a very special place in my heart...plus, it’s a great shooter as well.

Thanks for the reply! This is the info I'm looking for. I like that you got one that has some sentimental value. I was lucky to get my Grandad's Savage 99 in 250 Savage. He loved that rifle.

        Have you checked "Gunbroker"?
I saw several, in various calibers, on there the other day..
My No.1B 6mm drives tacks but ONLY with 85gr or lighter bullets. 100 grainers scud everywhere.. It is a 1979 model that has a 1/12 twist.

What chambering are you looking for ? Ruger offers the No. 1 in 32 different cartridges and rifle configurations. Each year they add/subtract 4-5 different offerings. Go to Buds Gun Shop to find what you want

I have, but call me old fashioned. I want to put my hands on a rifle first before going all in on it. I'd love to get my hands on a No. 1 in 6mm. I've got a Remington 788 and a Ruger red pad M77 both in 6MM and I have pet loads for both these rifles. I'm probably going to sell off the Ruger to gain a No. 1 (haven't come to grips with this yet but I REALLY want a Ruger No. 1).

22-250 & 6MM are my top choices. Close 2nds are 243, 25-06, 7MM-08, 25-06. Don't particularly want a magnum as my kiddos will probably be enjoying it one day.

Sounds like the 6mm is the choice for you.
Had one years ago and loved it.
Had a Ruger #1 also, but the heavy barrel didn’t fit my
Needs. It was very accurate and had a great trigger.

                  Regret selling both.

I’ll provide a good home for your M77 red pad! Ready when you are.

The crazy thing is I actually bought my No1B 6mm out of the classifieds right here on TBH..
About 7 years ago, maybe 8.. I was searching the classifieds late one night and it popped up and I jumped all over it..... Can't remember who I bought it from but it was Unfired NEW in the box!! Got it for $800!!!! He said he bought a bunch of guns at an estate sell and the old boy who had died had a slew of Rugers in his collection..

I have a 1b in 270 I’ve hunted with for 30 years! My favorite gun ever. I also have a stainless 1B in 30-06 that’s beautiful. Looking to buy another.

Been a 1 shot 1 hole gun Nut all my life... The Rugers #1 were favorite.

Probably why I'm Bowhunter and now X-bow hunter since got old and shoulder gave out!

Well I agree with the OP. He should sell the M77 to me and he can find himself a #1!
