are you specifically asking about using a spotting scope mounted on a tripod for a stable shooting rest ?
or using a tripod with a dedicated mounting system to secure your rifle and shoot from ?
if the latter, there are hundreds of options - see link above filled with pictures and suggestions
When shooting in the mountains or with varying elevations, most important thing is to KNOW YOUR RIFLE AND DOPE.
Download a ballistic shooting app such as Strelok Pro and practice, practice, practice
Cajun Blake...”are you specifically asking about using a spotting scope mounted on a tripod for a stable shooting rest?” Yes.
Juanito...Thank you for the recommendation.
Odd and end stuff Im wondering:
...if screw tight or twist tight adjustable legs are better or worse than snap lock
...Im reckoning on having a kneeling height set for hasty deployment
...good manufacturers
...hasty rest options...I was figuring some pipe foam, etc
MF...I am impervious to your deviousness. I got a hug for you homey.
No, but I use my shooting sticks (Primos Trigger Sticks - Jim Shockey Edition) as a tripod for my spotting scope. I have several of the Manfrotto quick disconnect adapters that I use on my camera gear on my shooting sticks and then other other side that goes on my camera for example, on my spotting scope.
Make sense?
I use a regular camera tripod that was made by cabelas. They don't make it any more. It does double duty as a weapons tripod was well. I bought a yoke that screws onto the shoe pad. I've used it to take a few critters.
I use a Really Right Stuff tripod and leveling head with Arca Swiss rails on rifles to clamp in. This offers sub minute of angle wobble and is very fast to go from spotter to rifle.
Kopfjager is committed to strengthening the accuracy of precision riflemen while reducing fatigue with its top-tier shooting rests, tripods and other fire-assistive products.
I’ve used the bog pod shooting tray but not greatest idea for hiking. It would work as you can switch to a spotting scope (camera mount) by popping it out and slipping in the adjustable mount with trigger.
As for legs I like the clamp style as the seem to not have as many issues. The twist ones seem to loose compression / friction is not high quality sometimes.
I bought the Primos Shockey shooting sticks. Theyve worked super easy and very light weight.... not just for me but shooters old and young. I just bought the Kopfjager Reaper grip and Im gonna mount it to the shooting sticks mounting pad and see how they Feng Shui together.
Im looking forward to getting my young shooters stabilized on mobile targets. Everybodys info has helped and its nice for reference when I forget products mentioned.
