My Fed GW compadre has gotten calls from the parks & wildlife squirrel sheriffs (most of them anti hunting jerks) when certain parts of sanctuaries along the coast get over populated with nilgai & has the horrible duty to go thin them out...uses a 220 swift & neck shots. The calibers mentioned will work but really comes down to the hunting experience you want to have.
If you want to have a unique nilgai hunt or the other critters you mention amigo, try to still hunt & get close and personal with an open sight or very low power optic with that 375 H&H.
I have a buddy who borders the East & does this with much higher recoiling 'bigger' bores than the 375 & its way more spiffy than whacking them at 200 with 300 mags...a lot of them get up under 75yds & gotta get'm on the move. The 375 is about all I want wrestle with & this sort of hunt gets my blood pumping.
Really all about the animals too. Elk?? Yeah, I would want more along what I have in the 280AI, but the bison, bear, moose & african plains?? A larger bore & a more personal up close experience is how I would personally want approach it.

Not sure too many that post on here nowadays remember.. But every time I read a what cal for nilgai thread I think back about Qzilla's little girl killing them with a 6mmbr
Killed my first with a 257 Roberts...not knocking all the choices. Heck the 7 Mauser was a regular elephant killer so any of the suggested are great choices. Just giving some insight into the style of hunting I think is more intriguing for the animals listed & using the entry big bore 375 just marries up.
A double would be my first choice for this style of hunting but betting my first 375 I buy will be a pre-64 model 70.

They can be killed with any center fire cartridge but it’s not ideal. They have weight ranges that very 350 pounds. A 300 lb cow is completely different than a 650 lb bull.
There’s nowhere you can legally hunt brown or grizzly bears unguided as a non AK resident. Hunt prices are in the $20-$30k range. It’s not something you need to “have a rifle ready in the safe for” in case you just happen to go one day.
FWIW, one of the most experienced brown bear guides in the business said there’s nothing wrong with a .30-06 and a 200 gr partition.
The 30-06 will work fine for Alaskan bears, if the bear is relaxed and doesn't know you are there. I'd want more gun if I was trying to sort him out in an alder patch. Something with a big bullet that will penetrate and break bones
I would go with the 300 win mag or 338 win mag. A couple main reasons being they could handle what you have mentioned but there are some outfitters that have a minimum caliber or bullet size/weight they will allow.
Just day dreaming here....If a fella had an assortment of rifles and the most powerful one was 6.5 creedmoor, what large caliber would you recommend? Something that could be used for elk, moose, bison, bear, nilgai, African plains game.
I don't reload and would only want an off the shelf rifle/common cartridge.
Seems like 30-06 or 300 win mag would be the top choices but what say you?
It will be hard to beat a 300WM. I have used one on most african plains game up to Eland and it has not let me down.
