Marlin,CZ,Savage,Ruger,NEF....It's a toss up. I haven't ever shot one that wasn't accurate. I'd say whichever one you like in your price range.

17 Fireball is the most efficient of the centerfires, (or 17 MachIV), of the rimfires, the 17HMR gets the nod, I have a Ruger 77/17 in HMR and for longer range vermin, a Remington 700 in 17 Fireball.

I just got a new Savage B-Mag .17 WSM, they are hard to find right now and are on back order. I found this one at cheaper than dirt.com. $550 to my FFL, added the Prostaff 4-12x40 and quake sling. About $750 all in.

.17 Remington cause it kills like lightning. I've got a couple of 17hmr's but am not impressed with it's killing power. The .22 magnum is more better.
