I have been happy with the hd5 3x15x14 on the 2018 build. However, I had a group of pigs at 100 yards sunday morning. It was EARLY (like 630) and I just couldn't make out heads or tails in the cross hairs.

I was able to see well enough to shoot with my vortex 10x50 binocs if that had been possible.

What power did you have the scope set at? I've found that backing off on the power during low light conditions does much better due to exit pupil. With your binos, 50mm divided by 10x gives you an exit pupil of 5.0. If you had the scope on 15x, you would of had an exit pupil of 2.9 (44mm divided by 15). Theoretically, if you had backed the power down to 8x or 9x that would of given you a similar exit pupil as the binos. Again, I'm assuming you had the scope set at a higher power.

I did it all. 3x to 15x and adjusted side focus.

Dont get me wrong, I'm happy with it and it was quite overcast that morning. There wasnt much light. I couldnt see feeder legs just the barrel. Feeder is right at 100

That is exactly what I settled on for my sub 6 lb ultralight 28 Nosler build by APR, but it's slightly heavier than that and is 3 power on the low end. I got a good deal on some of the last remaining close outs that got replaced by the HD series, and stuck a extra one in the safe for just such an occasion as this.

I will be in the lookout for closeouts! The swaro and leupys are pricey!

Midway has a pile of refurbed Leupolds at good prices right now. You still get the warranty with a refirb as far as I know.

I think I’m going with the Swaro z-6.

If I wanted to shave more it would be the vx6 2-12.

Good choice. I have the Mark 6 which is 23.5oz + rings and it’s still a plenty light rifle at 7.9lb loaded. Distance shooting gets trickier going much lighter

I just happen to have a March-F in 3x24x42 that I will be putting on (I think) a 6mm. creed.

I love the concept of this scope for a light weight hunter. However, between 2 guys I shoot with and myself we have 5 of them, and 4 have had issues with tracking or holding zero. 3 of those 4 came back from Vortex with the same issues they left with. I hope you have better luck than we have had.

I put a Redfield Revolution 2-7x33 on my 14.5 pinned and welded. Works great for what I use it for
