My daughter shoot the American in .308 compact. It is very accurate. So much so I enjoy it more than my M77 .270. Can't beat it for the price either. Only issue i've ever had was the magazine getting weak inside and not feeding bullets properly. Ruger sent me another one for free and it arrived in 3 days. Other than that it's been a great little gun.

So my sister's boyfriend seems like he is going to be around for the long haul. He has never really shot or hunted so I have had to do some molding and sculpting. He wanted a rifle within his budget that he could hunt with and stretch out a little ways. I told him the Ruger American Predator he chose that in 6.5 creedmoor. I got it did a little of clearing in the barrel channel of the stock, checked the contact of the action and stock and mounted scope etc. I had him zero at 200yd and he was shooting submoa groups at 500yds the first day he shot it using Hornady 140 gr ELD-M ammo. A couple months later I took him on his first ever hunt. He shot a mulie at 275yds shooting at about 33 deg angle into 23 mph wind and then a whitetail at 400 yds with a 90 deg 25mph cross wind. He is a new shooter but he listened and the $600 set up (rifle mounts scope etc.) did the job. He has since bought a Savage 12FV in 308 from cabelas that was on sale and upgraded his 6.5 scope and moved that scope over to the Savage for a $500 set up that I bedded the recoil lug and I had impacts on a 16" plate at 1000yds the first time I attempted it.

I have a RAP in 6.5 that I bought off a member here.
It’s a shooter for sure.
My best group is .675” 5 shot at 100. Berger 140 Hunting VLD over H4350. I had some accurate loads using H414, but it has a reputation for not being really temp stable. I haven’t fiddled with Varget yet.
I’ve changed out the trigger spring. I bought an assortment at the hardware, and followed a YouTube video for the how to. It’s right at 2lb.
I also tried to fix the stock. Filled the forend with fiberglass filler, and filled the butt with silicone.
It added some weight, and stiffened up the stock, but the really weak point is at the receiver and mag well. It still flexes more than I would like. I will be replacing it with a Magpul in the near future.
I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately...
