    Ruger American Accuracy

How does the Ruger American compare in accuracy only to other non-custom rifles such as the Remington 700, the Win. mod 70, or Browning A-bolt, Ruger M77 ? I know it may be a slightly cheaper rifle but was wondering about their accuracy, especially in the 6.5 creedmore round ?

    Thanks !

Sorry mods...if this thread needs to be moved, please feel free to do so.
I had already posted it when I thought about it.

I own several of the guns listed above including the Ruger American in 6.5. The ruger is probably one of, if not the most accurate gun I own.

My RAP shoot sub moa in 6.5, as does my Ruger Ranch .223.

The Ruger American Predator is probably the most accurate sub $500 rifle out there. Mine is nearly .5 MOA gun with factory ammo.

I own several of the American Rifles and love them. Inexpensive, lightweight, rugged and extremely accurate. I am shooting the cheaper Hornady Whitetail ammo in my 6.5 and getting less than .8 MOA while sitting in my pickup and shooting off my rearview mirror.

I own or have owned or worked on or set up the American, m77, rem 700. The Ruger American is just as accurate if not more accurate as the ones I have dealt with and I highly doubt the a bolt or model 70 drastically out shoot the American or if they are more accurate at all. The only negative I have come across with the American is the stock but there are getting to be more and more stock options for them.

I don't own one, but they have a reputation for being extremely accurate. At this point in time, I don't trust Remington at all.

I bought my son one in a .243 And Dang it’s an accurate gun. I’d say it’s probably as good as my Browning A-Bolt

My son shoots the Ruger American 7-08 and is very accurate. We’ve been very pleased with it. Also have a good buddy who has the Ruger American ranch 223 that’s a tact driver too.

Agree with all the talk above on the Ruger AP I bought mine year ago or so and love it very accurate and shoots to kill.

Thank you all very much ! I just can't see myself spending $1500+ on scope/rifle combo when the Ruger American is apparently a good little gun.

I own every rifle you have listed and then some. The truth is, nearly any bolt gun is going to be more accurate than most people can shoot it. The limiting factor to accuracy is, except for a small minority of the population, the shooter. With that said, a model 70 sure is nice to look at and pet when you’re sitting in the stand and nothing is moving.

I've been eyeing this one for a while myself...let me know how you like it if you get one, Bobby I'm sitting on a railroad with 300-400 yard shots being feasible, and the ol 30-30 isn't gonna cut it
