    MagnetoSpeed V3

I have had this MagnetoSpeed V3 for over a year. I used it a few times and put it up for almost a year. Got it out yesterday to chrono a few rifles. It was as easy to set up and use as It was a year ago.

I'm amazed at the ease of use and the ability to collect velocity data almost anywhere, anytime.

I kept notes on the spacer set up from last year. I used the same spacers and checked alignment with the rod. Alignment was confirmed, I was shooting and collecting data.

I forgot a spare battery. When I started reading the instructions I learned that I could substitute cr123 batteries. I have several packs of those to power my flashlight and thermal weapon sight. Luckily, I did not have to resort to that as the original battery was still good.

A few minutes with the instructions, a few minutes of set up and I was gathering data.

Looks good! I just ordered a lab radar. Should be even easier to set up. I had considered one of these but don't want something strapped to my barrel. Hope it works as good as yours.

I agree with your desire to have nothing attached but in my experience the Lab Radar is no easier to set up

The Magneto speed is very easy to set up. I'm not sure I could be much simpler. I just keep notes on the spacers that I use and I don't have to mess around experimenting and trying to figure out what combination of spacers after I do it one time

Yeah, the LabRadar has setup issues and doesn’t like some scenarios. The known issues are easy to find on YouTube and Google. That’s why I chose the MS. But, ultimately, I’ll have both.

                Is there a POI shift?

This. I don't see how the bbl harmonics are not altered strapping that to it.

Larry let me know how you like that labradar after you spend some time with it. I’m interested in one myself.

Thanks for the battery info. I have one and never knew it could use cr123 batteries.

I have not really noticed any POI shift with my MS. It is securely mounted so my thought is if there is any it is repeated with every shot. I use mine for the actual FPS of a round and then read SD, if it is acceptable I take it off and concentrate on groups.

Having said all of that; I have shot groups the same size regardless if it is on the barrel or on a suppressor hanging off the barrel.

The only issue I have with it is on small shooting benches the wires and box have been in the way. However, on most public ranges you will not catch me trying to setup a regular chrono, so it is this for now!

I have seen it effect POI and harmonics to the point that a load developed with the MS attached would not group once the MS was removed.

Mike I have one if you ever want to shoot behind it.

It takes a little getting used to. You have to make sure it's armed to register the shot. I've forgotten to do this a few times. I later adjusted the "time out" function to be longer and no longer have that issue.

There are some other small quirks that taking getting used to. All in all I trust the readings more than any other chronograph. Bryan Litz tested it next to the Ohler's with the same results.

I also didn't want to do load work up without seeing velocities at the same time. I didn't like the idea of working up a load with something on the barrel either. Pointless in my opinion.

                            I've been 100% satisfied

Midway had them for a steal the other day.
